Q. Can I send in my continuity letter after the expiration date?
A. Yes, as long as the date of most recent brazement is on or before your expiration date.

Q. I've been employed by the same employer for quite some time. I have not sent in my continuity letters as required. Can I still send them in?
A. Yes, you must send us continuity letters for every 6 month period. You will have to pay for each continuity letter submitted.

Q. I have been employed by numerous contractors over a period of time. I have been brazing continuously. I have not kept up my continuity letters. Can I still send my continuity letters in?
A. Yes, you must send us continuity letters for every 6 months period. You will have to pay for each continuity letter submitted.

Q. What is the fee for continuity letters?
A. If the continuity letter is mailed, the fee is $33. The fee for a continuity letter submitted electronically is $21.50.

Q. What continuity letter form do I use?
A. You must use the Record of Continuity Brazer Qualification form.

Q. I have not used the brazing process in over 180 days. What do I need to do to renew my brazing certification?
A. Renewal of the brazing portion of this certification can be accomplished by using the brazing process at least once within six (6) months, or one hundred and eighty (180) days, and submitting a continuity of brazing form per ASME section IX performance qualifications (QB322) to NITC prior to the expiration date of the brazing certification.
Certified persons who have not brazed a joint within a six (6) month time period from date of issuance of the certification, must recertify by successfully performing another brazing qualification. This can be accomplished by brazing one (1) side of a vertical joint in the "upflow" position. The same type of copper tube, coupling and process used in the initial brazing examination must be used. An approved proctor, authorized testing representative or other approved individual must witness this process.

Q. Why wasn't I notified that my brazing certification was going to expire?
A. Keeping your certification current is the responsibility of the certified person.

Q. I was certified as a medical gas installer to the 1999 Edition of the NFPA 99 Standard. I did not renew my certification to the 2002 Edition of the NFPA 99 Standard. Am I eligible to take the 2005 Edition of the NFPA 99 Standard, mail renewal examination?
A. No, you must take the proctored one hundred (100) question med gas installer written examination.

Q. My medical gas installer certification has expired and I received a mail-in renewal examination, but I have not sent it in. Can I still send in my examination?
A. Yes, certified individuals, who have not renewed their written certification within thirty (30) days after the expiration date, must take the proctored one hundred (100) question written examination.

Q. Why have I not received my medical gas installer card?
A. In order for us to print and send your photo I.D. card we must have the following:
" A photograph.
" Correct address on file.
" All applicable fees must be paid.
" The medical gas installer/brazer certification, is a two part examination. You must pass the written and the brazing portions, and both certifications must be current.

Q. I am interested in obtaining a medical gas installer certification. How can I get certified?
A. You must successfully complete a 32 hour training course, taught by an NITC approved instructor. For a list of NITC approved instructors in your area please contact the NITC office at (877) 457-6482.

Q. I recently took my medical gas installer examination. How long will it take for me to get my results?
A. Results of examinations are normally available within two weeks after the examination date.

Q. Why wasn't I notified that my installer certification was going to expire?
A. It is your responsibility to keep your certification current. We make every effort to provide an opportunity to renew your installer certification by mail-in renewal or by electronic renewal. Q. I failed the 100 question medical gas installer certification examination. What is the procedure for re-taking the examination?
A. You may re-take the examination as soon as it can be scheduled. If you fail the examination twice, you must re-take the 32 hour course.

A. The fee for re-taking the medical gas installer certification is $108.

Q. I have been notified that I failed one portion of the brazing examination. Do I have to test on both portions again?
A. No, you are only required to re-test on the portion that you failed and you must re-test within 6 months of the examination date.

Q. How many times can I re-take the braze examination ?
A. You can re-take the portion that you failed as many times within 6 months of the original braze examination date. If the 6 months have passed, both portions of the braze examination will have to be taken.

Q. Do I have to pay each time I re-take the braze examination? What is the fee for the braze examination?
A. Yes, you do have to pay. The fee for re-taking the braze examination is $66.50.

Q. I failed both the medical gas installer certification examination and the braze examination, what is the fee for re-taking both examination?
