Duration  This certification is valid for five (5) years from issuance.
ReCertification  Certified persons are responsible for keeping their certification current and notifying NITC of changes in address. Renewal of this certification can be accomplished by successfully passing a twenty-five (25) question, non-proctored, multiple-choice “open book” examination. This can be mailed to certified individuals or administered by a training agency, employer, or association. Certified persons must complete the renewal examination by thirty days after the expiration date. The fee for renewal of this certification is forty-two dollars ($42.00). The renewal examination consists of fifteen (15) general knowledge questions and ten (10) piping mathematics questions. Certified persons that fail to pass the renewal examination must re-take the original one hundred (100) question proctored examination. Failure to pass a re-certification examination twice may result in NITC requiring that the candidate take a ‘refresher course’ or other type of training before re-taking the examination.
